Bespoke FAQ

Bespoke FAQ

Answers to the questions most often asked about DYSKINESIAA's bespoke service. Every bespoke commission begins with a moulding kit and ends with a piece cast from the client's own anatomy.

How does the bespoke moulding kit work?

Once a bespoke order is placed, the atelier ships a small kit containing a two-part silicone compound, a mixing tray, and printed instructions. The client mixes the two parts, presses the chosen finger into the soft compound for sixty seconds, and lets it cure. The result is a high-resolution negative of the finger. The kit ships back to Ivry-sur-Seine in a prepaid envelope, where the impression becomes the master from which the wax model is built.

How long does a bespoke piece take from order to delivery?

Plan for four to six weeks total. The kit ships within forty-eight hours of order. Allow one to two weeks for the round trip and for the client to find the right moment to take the imprint. Once the impression arrives at the atelier, casting and hand-finishing run two to three weeks. Shipping the finished piece adds a final few days. The atelier provides a tracking update at every stage so the timeline stays transparent.

How much does a bespoke piece cost?

Bespoke commissions start at 450 euros for a finger imprint ring and rise according to silver weight, surface complexity, and any additional inlays such as resin-set snakeskin or oxidized passages. The kit, the casting, the hand-finishing, the signed hallmark, and worldwide tracked shipping are all included in the quoted price. There are no hidden fees. The atelier confirms the final figure in writing before any wax is cut.

Can I choose the material?

Bespoke pieces are produced in solid 925 sterling silver as standard. Within that, the client can specify finish, polished, brushed, raw, or oxidized, and request inlays drawn from the Skin collection vocabulary, including resin-encased shed snakeskin or vegetable-tanned leather. The atelier does not work in gold, vermeil, or plated metals, and does not source materials of animal origin that require an animal to be harmed.

What if my finger imprint is unsuccessful?

It happens. The compound can set unevenly, or the finger can shift during the minute it needs to stay still. If the returned impression is unusable, the atelier ships a second kit free of charge and the production clock pauses until the new imprint arrives. Most clients succeed on the first attempt thanks to the printed step-by-step. There is no penalty and no question asked when a second kit is needed.

Can I request a consultation before ordering?

Yes. The atelier offers a free thirty-minute video consultation on request, conducted by Ilyasse Ebadi himself. Use it to discuss the proportions of the piece, examine reference images of past commissions, and check feasibility before any payment is taken. To book a consultation, write to the atelier through the contact form or by direct message on Instagram. In-person visits to Ivry-sur-Seine are possible by appointment only.

How is the bespoke piece packaged?

Every bespoke commission ships in the standard DYSKINESIAA presentation: an FSC-certified outer box, an inner cradle in vegetable-tanned leather, a cotton dust pouch, and a numbered authenticity card signed by the designer. A small printed booklet documents the imprint stage of your specific commission with two photographs of the silicone master. The kit returns inside the same box so the client retains a record of how the piece came into existence.

Is there a guarantee on bespoke pieces?

Yes. Each bespoke piece carries a two-year guarantee against manufacturing defects, identical to the one offered on collection pieces. Outside the guarantee window, the atelier still services every piece it has ever made. Re-polishing, re-finishing, and structural repair are offered at cost for the lifetime of the object. A bespoke piece is a long-term relationship with the studio, not a single transaction.

Can I request modifications after the piece is cast?

Minor adjustments are possible, surface re-finishing, oxidation tuning, or adding a brushed pass over a polished section. Structural changes, however, require re-casting from a new wax model and are quoted as a fresh commission. The atelier is direct about this, lost-wax casting is irreversible. The discussion before the wax is cut is the moment to specify every detail. The studio walks every client through that conversation in writing.

Do you ship bespoke pieces internationally?

Yes. DYSKINESIAA ships bespoke commissions worldwide with full tracking and insurance. Shipping is included in the bespoke price for delivery to the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Japan, and most of Asia. Customs duties and import taxes outside the European Union are the responsibility of the recipient and depend on local rules. The atelier provides a commercial invoice with each shipment so customs clearance is straightforward.
